When I visited the Kerala restaurant in Little India, I came across this interesting rice from Kerala that has a slightly red hue with very fluffy texture and big, big grain. It goes really well with the gravies because the rice absorbs the curries very well. Apparently, when the rice is harvested, it is parboiled with the husk on and then dried. The reddish color remains on the bran and hence, slight reddish color. Very different from the Tamil Nadu's ponni rice (photo below).
