Is there a big difference (other than the shape and that kueh tu tu has a choice of peanut or coconut) between Putu Piring and Kueh Tu Tu? For those unfamiliar with this kueh or SE Asian cake, it is a rice based cake filled with rich palm sugar and coconut flakes, steamed and wrapped with pandanas leaf (pandanas leaf yields a distinct sweet aroma to the end product). Basically, from my observation the only difference is the shape but I believe the putu piring has a more stronger and rich gula melaka taste which I adore. Anyways, which came first?
