シンガポールという共和国は、６０もの島で出来ている。ちなみに生活の中心であるシンガポール市の南にあるセントーサ島は２００９年６月現在、壮大なカジノ計画の真っ最中だ（写真下）。セントーサ以外に比較的にローカルの人がサイクリングやフィッシングスポットとして訪れるのが、プラウウビン（ウビン島）だ。チャンギフェリーターミナルから水上マイクロバスで２０分くらいでプラウウビンに到着だ。しかし私はここへサイクリングをしに来た訳ではない。日曜のみ限定、Pak Ali Coffeeshopのロントンを食べにわざわざ朝早く起きてここまで来た。ロントンとは、お米を筒にいれてボイルする事により、お餅のような形のお米の事を言うが、料理名でもある。マレー系の料理のロントンだが、味はココナッツベースで香味野菜などを加えあっさりとしたシチュー仕上げ。定番の具は当然ロントン、その他は卵、キャベツ、厚揚げ、インゲンだ。その上にサンバルチリとセロンデンというトーストしたココナッツのふりかけが降り掛かる。朝食には胃に優しい料理だ。If you are not a Singaporean, you wouldn't think Republic of Singapore is made up of over 60 islands. Of course the main island being the Singapore city and the tourist attraction island being Sentosa. There's another island with easy access and the locals go there for cycling and fishing called Pulau Ubin meaning "granite island" in Malay; just 20 minutes from Changi Ferry Termial. Well, I was not there for picnic nor cycling. I came here for Lontong just near the ferry terminal at Ubin, called Pak Ali Coffee Shop which Makansutra raves about. Only on Sunday's do they serve a home style lontong, served with coconut gravy and garnished with cabage, deep fried tofu, boiled eggs and green beans. Topped with sambal goreng but no serondeng (aromatic toasted coconut toppings). I must say the lontong was very humble and comforting. The cafe had a kampong feel (very relaxed suburb style).
パックアリコーヒーショップは都心にはない、カンポン式（カントリー風）のお店だ。サイクリングをする人が唯一、ホッと出来る場所だ。
決して美しいとはいえない、船のメインターミナル。ここは泳げません。Who swims at Pulau Ubin? 
ボロい船の中。雰囲気があって、アドベンチャー気分をそそられる。Boat ride itself is a trip!
シンガポールのチャンギーフェリーターミナルからのワンショット。プラウウビンより全然奇麗だぞ。Singapore Changi Ferry Terminal seems much cleaner than Pulau Ubin.
ゴンドラから撮った、セントーサのカジノプロジェクト。世界同時不況で工事がどことなく遅れているような気がする。東京ドーム何十個分あるのだろう。 The Sentosa Casino Project is simply extravagant.
